| Summer
Show 2003
Currently
on display at Cavanacor Gallery
is the annual summer show. There
is an extensive range of work
featured in a variety of media;
printmaking, painting and sculpture.
In terms of printmaking this year,
there is a strong northern element
with two practitioners from Seacourt
Print Workshop, Bangor. These
are Margaret Arthur, resident
printmaker and David DuBose, Director
of Seacourt and MFA graduate from
Louisiana State University. This
year’s international representative
is German artist Klaus Dierrsen,
who is also exhibiting print work,
intimate meticulous etchings of
gardens, landscape and architecture.
Kilkenny based Bernadette Kiely’s
work is intuitive abstract renderings
of her habitual environment on
the Nore at Thomastown. Brian
Ferran’s paintings demonstrate
his enduring interest in Irish
mythology. He blends figurative
elements with more abstract qualities
resulting in rich patterned canvases.
Eamon O’Kane is exhibiting
paintings related to his recently
completed Belfast Panaroma, on
permanent display in the Waterfront
Hall, Belfast. Resident artists
are also featured. The exhibition
continues throughout the summer
months until the end of August.
