Sean Fingleton


Acclaimed Donegal born artist Sean Fingleton (b.1950, Malin, Inishowen) has been recently elected to Aosdana, the elite state representative body of creative artists.
Sean Fingleton studied painting at Letterkenny Regional Technical College RTC and has a BA degree in English and Philosophy from UCD, he completed postgraduate study at the National College of Art and Design. Named by some of the country’s leading art critics as ‘one to watch’ in the category of established artists, he is an excellent artist for investment. Fingleton’s painting demonstrates a fervent passion for its subject matter: the landscapes and seascapes of Donegal, Dublin and Wicklow, coupled with still life of a unique intimacy and immediacy. Sean Fingleton has been exhibiting in Ireland and abroad for the past thirty years. He is represented internationally and in Ireland’s leading public collections; Irish Museum of Modern Art, The Irish Arts Council, the Office of Public Works, Department Of An Taoiseach, The European Parliament, Strasbourg, Garda Síochanna Training College, North Western Health Board Offices, Kildare Public Libraries, Allied Irish Banks, Bank of Ireland, Aer Rianta, GPA Group, Stokes Kennedy Crowley, Royal Insurance, St. Vincent's Hospital, St. Edmondsbury Hospital, St. James' Hospital, Kelly's Strand Hotel, Jury's Hotel, Letterkenny General Hospital, University College Dublin, Limerick University, Woodchester Bank, Arthur Anderson Ltd, Independent Broadcasting Company and the Royal Hospital, Gloucester. Critically acclaimed, Sean Fingleton’s work has been featured in the Irish Arts Review, CIRCA, the Buyers Guide to Irish Art and Perspective. Fingleton’s contribution to Irish Art has been regularly acknowledged and he has received a number of awards and accolades, including: Independent Artists Painting Bursary, GPA Emerging Artists Award, Fergus O'Ryan RHA Memorial Award, and he is twice prize-winner in the Claremorris Open Exhibition.
