The Peter O’Kane Award at RDS Student Art Awards 2009
Cristina Bunello is the recipient of the second ‘The Peter O’Kane Solo Exhibition at Cavanacor Gallery Award’. The award was presented at the opening of the RDS Student Award Exhibition 2009.
The RDS Student Art Awards recognise excellence in young emerging Irish artists and provide support to enable them to further their talent and artistic development.
Cavanacor Gallery offers a unique award which began in 2008 of a solo exhibition to a Fine Art student from the RDS Art Student Award Exhibition. The solo exhibition will be hosted by Cavanacor Gallery during the following year. The Exhibition will be curated by the Gallery Directors and include a studio visit to the artist's studio in the spring of 2010.
Cavanacor Gallery is one of Ireland’s leading contemporary art galleries. It exhibits work from established national and international artists and young emerging artists.
The O’Kane family recognise the important contribution of the RDS
Student Art Awards in furthering the development of the career of young artists. Both Eamon O’Kane and David O’Kane have benefited from these awards in the past, Eamon received the Taylor Art Award and David received both the Henry Higgins Travelling Scholarship and the Lewis-Crosby Award for Painting.
The Peter O’Kane Solo Exhibition aids a young, emerging artist at the start of their career to exhibit their work in a solo exhibition and mentoring the artist on the selection, display and promotion of their work in the art world. Cristina Bunello will have a solo exhibition of her work at Cavanacor Gallery next summer 2010.
