Reinout Van den Bergh
and Huib Fens
9 November 2003
until January 2004.
This was an important
two-person exhibition by Netherlanders
artists Reinout Van den Bergh
and Huib Fens. The exhibition
will feature collaborative work
in photography and sculpture by
the pair. Huib Fens has completed
numerous public commissions and
practises in a variety of areas
including architecture, painting,
sculpture and photography. He
is Professor at the Fontys Academy
of Visual Arts in Tilburg and
Editor at Wagner and Van Santen
Publishers. Reinout Van den Bergh
studied photography and audiovisual
design at the St. Joost Academy
for Visual Arts in Breda, The
Netherlands and has worked in
this area since 1982. His work
has been exhibited in various
museums in Eastern and Western
Europe and published in various
books and publications.
The
sculpture featured in the duo's
Cavanacor exhibition is industrially
stoical and forbidding but is
finished to an impeccable standard,
holding an indefinable fascination
for the viewer. The photography
on show is the result of a co-operative
photo project commenced in 1998
and executed as a result of an
expedition around Europe. The
images illustrate the diversity
of Europe's industrial structures;
ancient factories, mills and plants
from the first century of the
Industrial Revolution. There is
an eerie calmness surrounding
these images of the once frenetic
hives of activity. The exhibition
runs from the 9 November 2003
until January 2004.
